Frank's Story
Frank Tribes is a songwriter/performer based in Chicago. For several years prior to going solo in 2001, he was a member of the well established and eclectic Garden Bower, along with childhood friend, Rob Bochnik, a guitarist currently with the Frames. In 2002 Frank released his debut self-titled album, followed by his well- received 2nd album, "By All Means," released in 2004.
"Gallery" is Frank's newest recording. The creation of this album began when Frank started demonstrating new songs he'd been working on. Knowing another album was in the works, some friends and other musicians suggested that he work with Ellis Clark (Epicycle, Kevin Tihista, Le Concorde.) Sharing very similar influences, along with a love for songwriting, the two hit it off immediately and began working steadily on an album.
Along with engineering, Ellis would add backup vocals, piano, keyboards and his production skills. Frank in turn pushed both his vocals and guitar playing to new heights. Each song, arrangement and production in general benefited. The first five completed songs became a promo release, known as the "Blade E.P." Steady work over the next year brought forth the completion of the full-length album, "Gallery."
The Beatles, Syd Barrett- Pink Floyd, Echo & the Bunnymen, David Bowie and Neil Young. Elements of such artists are borrowed, yet the songs make their own statement. Well crafted music, strong melodies and insightful lyrics come together in a unique way. Many lovers of rock music will want to have Gallery among their collection.
The Frank Tribes Men have performed at Chicago's House of Blues, the Cubby Bear, the Beat Kitchen, and the International Pop Overthrow (IPO) Festiva among others.
